Let’s not forget the more exotic species on the island - The Durrell Wildlife Park is a must see attraction for nature lovers looking to witness the springtime beauty of Jersey including the new additions to the park, testament to the wonderful conservation efforts of the team.
For those who love food and drink, Jersey is a food lover’s paradise during spring. The island is famous for its fresh seafood including mullet and turbot along with locally-grown produce including the very first harvests of the famous Jersey Royals. Many local restaurants, hotels and cafes gather to celebrate the glorious flavours of the island and heavily feature these seasonal ingredients in their spring menus.
Take the EAT Jersey Food Festival for example, hosted each March at The Atlantic Hotel, bringing local and world-renown chefs together for a gourmet celebration of Jersey’s finest produce.
Or, if you’re looking for an up close and personal way to incorporate the wonderful produce and exploring the beauty of the island this spring, wild foraging guided walks take you off the beaten track on a culinary safari.
A date for your diary - 09 May is Liberation Day, a significant date in the island's calendar marking the end of Nazi occupation in the Second World War (The Channel Islands were infamously the only United Kingdom territory to be occupied by the German Forces). Join islanders and visitors alike for Jersey’s national day, involving celebrations across St Helier including Liberation Square, Royal Square and Weighbridge. Expect live music, historical re-enactments, food stalls and on-stage entertainment.
Whilst you may be in the sunniest spot in the British Isles, you may still need an extra layer of clothing (especially when wandering the coastline) as average temperatures range from 11-17oC. A perfect alternative for those looking to enjoy rambling the island without breaking a sweat. On the occasion you find yourself looking at a rainy day, don’t let that dampen your spirit and have some indoor activities planned just in case.
Consider visiting the Jersey War Tunnels. The only place on the island where you can experience the full story of the German Occupation of the island. Experience this extraordinary exhibition including the underground hospital, housed within over 1,000m of underground tunnels, built by the Germans using slave labour.

Suitable for all, whether it's scenery, wildlife or an adrenaline fix you’re looking for, there’s an adventure waiting for you.
With not one, not two, but three castles, Jersey’s heritage locations are the perfect place to head to in spring. Escape the everyday and immerse yourself in the unique history. Whether it’s the medieval, the majestic ruin of Grosnez or the offshore experience of Elizabeth Castle, enjoy a different view of Jersey’s heritage from the battlements of one of these beautifully preserved historical sites.
As the southern-most British Isle, Jersey typically sees more sunlight hours in the day than the UK. This paired with its size of 9 x 5 miles, makes it the perfect place to relax on the beach, take to the water for a sea adventure, indulge on local seafood and head into town for a spot of shopping – all in one day.
If you can experience all this in a day, imagine all that you could enjoy with a holiday in Jersey this spring?
